I agree this one's better, but it reveals the hairline a little. The other one had hair draping over the hairline, if you get what I mean. It does indeed look samurai-ish, but I think the other hairstyle had a certain air to go with the face. Sort of an "old but strong" sort of thing. Some of that is lost with this hairstyle, but it brings a different air of the same kind, and it's not bad. There's also a huge difference in the hair between Kenji and Tanjiro: Kenji's hair is (probably) dyed, and it has a crazy style, but Tanjiro's is natural and pulled back. Unless this is intentional or wanted, It might offset the father-son relationship a bit.

One minor problem: his left, our right side of the face seems to have the sideburns closer to the eyes than the left, but that's probably just me.

In my own opinion, I feel the pulled back hairstyle suits Tanjiro’s face more than having hair drape over, and it all comes down to what style he prefers, which in this case is keeping it off his face, (also I did use a real hairstyle on Sanada Hiroyuki as reference, which suited him just fine) so it was the best choice for Tanjiros facial structure.
And the fact that his hair style is so different shouldn’t matter since he isn’t a cool hip 22 year old, Kenji got his hair color from his mother btw, and the costumes of kenji and his father have little Similarities, as well as their faces.

You finished Tanjiro's armour design so well! It looks so 3D, and it complements Kenji's design quite nicely. I really like the background too, the texture looks great.
